Are Hodges Badge Company's rider numbers water resistant? top ^
Yes. Our rider numbers are made from a semi-flexible, white, water-resistant, waxed impregnated piece of cardboard (similar to milk carton material).
Are there additional plate charges for printing multicolored buttons? top ^
No. We use our exclusive color digital printing process to make your award, membership and promotional buttons look great! We match the PMS color as close as possible.
Are there any fees associated with getting bright gold or bright silver finishes on a custom cast medal? top ^
Yes. There is an additional cost of $1.00 per peice for bright gold or bright silver finishes on custom cast medals.
Can I custom print a stock item? top ^
No. Stock items are available as shown or noted.
Can I customize my rosette centers? top ^
Yes. Customization is our specialty. Please specify which center you would like to use -button or gold rim - and submit your artwork to us. For a custom logo or title, there is a $10.00 set-up charge for less than 200 pieces. Artwork charges may apply ($60/hour).
Please note, we track use of all custom artwork. If it is noted in the file that your design has NOT been used in 3 YEARS, we will discard it.
Can I get borders printed on flat ribbons, rosettes and sashes? top ^
Yes for an additional cost, based on streamer length (9"=$.20, 12"=$.25, 15"= $.30, 18"=$.35, 24"=$.45, 30”=$.55, 36”=$.65), you can select gold stripes, horse and rider, snaffle bit, swimmer, paw print and metallic green 4-H Emblem designs. Borders are available on 2" and 2 1/2" ribbon in blue, red, yellow, white, rose, brown, light green, gray, orange, dark green, purple, mustard, lavender and Pink/Green.
For Equestrian or Athletic awards, please refer to our 170 and 180 series ribbons where the cost of the border is included in the price.
Can I get finished top ribbons without a record card? top ^
No because of our manufacturing set-up. If we do not offer a record card that is applicable to your use, we will make the ribbons with a blank white card.
Can I get my custom cast medals in bright gold or bright silver finishes? top ^
Yes. For bright gold and bright silver finishes an additional cost of $1.00 per peice will be added to the price.
Can I get my logo custom printed in a rosette center? top ^
Yes. Customization is our specialty. Please specify which center you would like to use -button or gold rim - and submit your artwork to us. For a custom logo or title, there is a $10.00 set-up charge for less than 200 pieces. Artwork charges may apply ($60/hour).

Can I get my medals packaged individually? top ^
Yes. We offer individual packaging in plastic bags for any style of pin-on or neck ribbon with medal at an additional cost of $.30 per bag.
Can I get the Canvas Print framed? top ^
Stretching and framing are not available. Depending on the size of the print, the canvas is printed and shipped rolled around a tube.
Can I order consecutively numbered buttons? top ^
Yes. There is a $60 fee to consecutively number buttons. Please specify numbers.
Can I order the same product as last year but change the date? top ^
Yes. We keep detailed records of all orders placed within the last 2 years. We can easily take your order over the phone and match it to your previous order. Customers with web accounts can view their web order history right on-line.
Please note: orders older than 3 years are not kept on file. If you have a copy of a previous order that is significantly backdated and want to reorder it, please share it with our customer service department.
Can I place a rush order? top ^
Yes. We will accept orders for faster delivery when possible and premium processing fees will be incurred. For fastest service, orders should be paid by credit card. Because our items are handmade, some items may not be available for rush delivery. Please call customer service to discuss your needs.
Web orders received after 4:30 pm, Eastern Standard Time, will be processed the following business day.

Most products are manufactured 7-14 days after we receive your approval to begin production. If you order needs to be delivered in 1-3 days, there is a 30% rush charge, plus charges for Next Day Air. If your order is needed in 4-7 days, there is a 30% rush charge plus 2nd Day Shipping charges. Orders needed in 8-14 days pay no rush charges but, depending on where you live, you may have to pay for air shipping to get your products on time. Note that the minimum rush charge is $15. Saturday delivery adds $15 per box.
We ship orders depending on your delivery requirements using a variety of Fed Ex and UPS services.
For various business reasons (production time, weight, etc.) certain items may be shipped separately to provide the best shipping option to meet your delivery needs. Examples would be orders containing ribbon products and engraved silver items. In these cases, shipping charges will vary from original price quoted by our website. For more accurate information, call our Customer Service department Mon – Fri, 8am – 7pm EST at (800) 556-2440.
Can I print my custom logo or artwork? top ^

Can I purchase extra strings for rider numbers? top ^
Yes. Please see the Accessories category under the Equestrian Catalog. Extra strings are available in bags of 50.
Can I return leftover items? top ^
No. Our ribbons are printed, and silver and trophies engraved, to order with the specific copy you request. They are custom made for you and we cannot accept the return of unused custom printed items for credit. Also, items purchased on Clearance cannot be returned; these sales are final.
Can I select a custom medal for the rosette center? top ^
Yes. Medal pricing will vary depending on the type you choose. If customizing a medal, please see item no. #730 (1 3/4") for the rosette center coin.
Can the sash be made smaller to accommodate different sized animals? top ^
Yes, we can vary the size of the sash based on animal size. You will need to specify the length of the sash. For dairy or beef cattle and horses - 52"; ponies and yearling horses - 48"; miniature horses, sheep, goats and large dogs - 40"; miniature horse yearlings - 36"; medium dogs - 30"; small dogs - 16".
Can you total up my order? top ^
Yes, for many orders, customer service representatives can let you know the cost immediately. On more complicated orders, we can only provide you with an immediate estimate. We have learned it is best to review the order, make sure everything is correct, and contact you within 24 hours with the total.
Do custom medals come in any shape other than round? top ^
Yes. Round is the standard (and default) shape however, a customer can order any shape they want as it fits within the sizes we offer. We will quote larger sizes and shapes.
Do you offer Saturday delivery? top ^
Packages which must be delivered on Saturday, where Saturday service is available, are subject to a $15.00 per package charge.
Do you only print in gold? top ^
No, but we will unless you specify another color. Other print colors available are: silver, bronze, Blue, Metallic Blue, Red, Metallic Red, Metallic Pink, Metallic Green, Metallic Teal, Yellow, Metallic Purple, Rainbow, Black, Metallic Black, Metallic Orange, Maroon, or White. The print color on neck ribbons will match the medal color unless specified. Some items, as seen in our stock category, are available as shown unless otherwise noted.
Do you save, or can you reuse my custom set type? top ^
No. Every order is a custom print job, and consequently different. The metal used is very soft--especially when heated--and breaks down after about 1,000 impressions.
The only part of your custom printing we keep is your logo (that was made into a die) Please note, we track use of all custom artwork. If it is noted in the file that your design has NOT been used in 3 YEARS, we will discard it.
Does Hodges Badge Company bill me? top ^
Yes, if you are a school, college, hospital, county extension, government agency, municipality and can send us a signed written Purchase Order. Other customers may establish a Net 30 account which takes at least 3-6 weeks to be processed; please ask for a credit application. While your application is pending, we appreciate the use of credit cards when possible. Due to the custom nature of our products, all sales are final.
Does Hodges Badge Company offer any discounts? top ^

At Hodges Badge Company, we welcome winter orders and offer customers an incentive. From December 1 - February 15 we will take 10% off your prepaid order - pre-payment is made by credit card. Not valid on orders wanted in less than 15 days. This offer cannot be combined with any other type of offer. Does Hodges Badge Company offer terms? top ^
We offer Net 30 terms to recognized governmental agencies and D&B rated corporations who complete an application for an open account. Because of the length of time creditors need to collect information, you should expect a credit approval to take at least 3-6 weeks. While your application is pending, we appreciate the use of credit cards when possible. Due to the custom nature of our products, all sales are final.
How are CHAMPION and RESERVE CHAMPION titles usually printed? top ^
On streamer lengths of 15"+, dies are used, and the titles are printed vertically unless a customer requests horizontal print. These titles are only available as a stock title in the traditional place colors; customers requesting other colors must pay an extra set up charge.
How are designs printed on the LBX and GBX medals? How are the printed centers attached to the medals? What size are the disks? top ^
These "print and apply" medals are manufactured by hand after the design is laser printed onto a metallic disc. Discs match the medal color - in gold, silver or bronze and printed in black. Multi-color mylar centers are available, as well. The background will be white unless your artwork covers the whole circumference. Pricing is noted for 1-2 color and 3-5 color. All centers have an adhesive back, which sticks to the medal. The the LBX is 1-5/16" and the GBX is 1-9/16"; we will size your artwork accordingly.
How are rosette centers printed? top ^
Depending on the customer selection, rosette centers are printed via digital printing (button) or hot stamped onto a circular piece of cardboard and inserted into a rim (gold rim).
How are the banners shipped? top ^
Banners are rolled and delivered in a cardboard tube to avoid damage.
How are the Canvas Prints shipped? top ^
Depending on the size of the print, the canvas will be shipped rolled around a tube. Stretching and framing are not available.
How are window decals shipped? top ^
Window Decals are boxed and shipped in sheets.
How big is the type used to print rider's sashes? top ^
Type is usually 1" high.
How can I get quantity discount pricing on-line? top ^
For those orders requiring award places, six standard places are free regardless of your ordering method (phone, fax, mail or on-line). After adding your items to the shopping cart, you are required to customize each. To obtain quantity discount pricing, simply complete the customization process, especially print lines and select a place. If you select a place, you do not need to fill in all 10 print lines because we will use the award title in the drop down menu. You will then see a prompt for "more like this." Your additional titles or places will then show up as another line item with the corrected price break, so long as no other printing on the ribbon has changed. If for some reason the order confirmation does not reflect this on-line, don't panic! Our customer service department will make sure that all is corrected before you are invoiced.
How can I place an order? top ^
You can place orders by mailing the order form with a credit card number or check; over the phone with a credit card; by fax with a credit card number; or on-line with a credit card. How can I submit my custom logo or artwork? top ^
For fastest service, please use the artwork submission tool located on our website at www.hodgesbadge.com. We accept TIFF, AI, EPS, GIF, JPEG, or PDF files. Artwork should be 300 dpi and no more than 3" wide. For Vinyl Banners we prefer AI or EPS files or 300 DPI TIFF files artwork at actual size. If you prefer to send it via regular mail, send us clean copy with sharp, crisp lines and text. PLEASE be sure to include the organization name and billing zip code with your artwork.
How can I use waving flag specialty satin ribbon? top ^
Waving flag ribbon is available in 1" and 2" widths only. It cannot be printed or bordered. It is best used in rosettes as side streamers, and loop and petals in rosette tops. Use it as a neck ribbon on medals (1" x 30"), or as a twist or wristband. Waving flag ribbon will add additional monies, depending on product type, to your order which does get calculated in the shopping cart.
How do I use Hodges Badge Company's replacement streamers? top ^
If you wish to remake or recondition rosettes from a previous event, we offer new printed center streamers. When ordering, select the appropriate ribbon length. To replace a rosette center streamer, simply cut off the older one and while folding back the bottom of the rosette top, staple the new streamer in place. Additional charges may apply for line changes.
How do riders wear rider numbers? top ^
Our numbers are made with hooks, to wear on the rider's collar, or strings to wear around the waist.
How do you ship packages? top ^
We ship orders depending on your delivery requirements by UPS Ground and other services upon request.
Orders which must be delivered in 1-3 working days or less are subject to a rush surcharge of 30% of the order, plus Next Day Air.
Orders which must be delivered in 5-8 working days or less are subject to a rush surcharge of 30% of the order, plus 2nd Day Air.
Orders which must be delivered in 9-12 working days or less are subject to a rush surcharge of 15% of the order, plus ground shipping.
Packages which must be delivered on Saturday, where Saturday service is available, are subject to a $15.00 per package charge. We ship orders depending on your delivery requirements using UPS Ground, second day or next day air. Other services as requested.
Certain items may be shipped separately to meet delivery needs. An example would be an order containing ribbon products, engraved silver items, trophies or rider numbers. Heavier items are shipped separately to avoid damage to other products (i.e. ribbons); Silver and Trophies are only produced in our RI plant resulting in the possibility of your order being manufactured in two plants. How does Hodges Badge Company custom print its ribbon? top ^
We use a method called hot stamp printing. It is a combination of pressure, heat and time that allows the foil to adhere to the ribbon.
How fast are Stock items shipped? top ^
Stock items are shipped in 24 hours of receipt of an order. Shipments will go Ground service (5 days to the West Coast).
How is 2 way tape attached to #160 series ribbons and wristbands? What does the company do if I want, or the item is manufactured with, the tape on the back of the ribbon? top ^
An air-operated machine, mounted on the printing press, applies tape to the ribbons. This action is part of the printing process. If the tape is to be applied to the back of the ribbon, another attachment is added that flips the ribbon after it has been printed but before it enters the tape machine.
How is my logo printed on the mugs? top ^
We utilize dye sublimated printing.
How long are animal sashes? top ^
The standard overall length of an animal sash is 3" wide x 52" long. The loop includes a velcro seam at the top of the neck for easy presentation.
How long are rider sashes? And, how are they joined for presentation? top ^
The overall length of the sash is 68". Sashes are joined at the shoulder by Velcro(R) and can be adjusted for size. The size of the sash can be adjusted 6 inches.
How much are printing charges? top ^
A printing set-up includes six FREE standard award titles (CHAMPION, RESERVE CHAMPION, FIRST through TWELFTH, HONORABLE MENTION and PARTICIPANT). If more than six standard award titles are required, there is an extra charge of $1.00 for each place change. There is a charge of $1.00 per line for changes in wording. We define a line as any one word of less than 10 characters or less. Orders requiring more line changes or division are no problem, however, allow a minimum of 4 weeks and submit your typed list via e-mail or regular mail. There may be additional printing charges for vertical or unusual printing requests. Please call 1-800-556-2440 for more information.
How much printing can you put onto a neck or pin - on ribbon? top ^
Neck ribbons can accommodate 3 lines of printing with up to 30 characters including spaces. Printing on a pin-on is limited to 4 lines with up to 14 characters across including spaces.
If I purchase a ribbon roll to use as awards, how many are on a roll? top ^
Rolls are 100 yards long, the equivalent of 600 6" ribbons. Ink transfer Rolls may vary depending on size of design.
In what numbers can rider numbers be ordered? top ^
Rider numbers are sold in lots of 50. You specify the beginning and ending number, available from #1 to #1500. We recommend you start with an odd number and end with an even number (i.e. - 1-50, 51-100).
Is printing included in the price? top ^
Yes. However, each product has its own rules on how much you can print.
Is there a fee for artwork? top ^
Yes, $60.00/hour. Most designs need less than 1/2 hour of work. After reviewing your logo, your customer service reprsentative will be happy to quote you.
Is there a minimum order amount for custom printed items? top ^
Yes, for custom products there is a $25.00 minimum. For orders of custom only, your total will automatically be adjusted in the shopping cart.
Is there a minimum order amount for stock products? top ^
Yes. There is a $10.00 minimum for stock items. For orders of stock only, your total will automatically be adjusted in the shopping cart.
When combined with custom items, this fee does not apply. However, there is a $25.00 minimum on custom orders.
Is there a minimum order amount on custom rosette center? top ^
If you order less than 200 custom rosette centers you will incur a $10 set up fee.
Two tone ribbon is unique to the dog show market. What colors does Hodges Badge Company offer? top ^
Two tone satin ribbon is available in 2" width only in white/blue, white/red, yellow/purple, white/purple, pink/light green and light green/pink. It adds $.10 to flat ribbon prices.
What animals can I use the different size sashes for? top ^
Horse sashes are made with a 52" loop. For smaller or larger animals, we can make these sashes with narrower and shorter neck bands. Sash lengths recommended are: 64" -large horse breeds, 52"-Dairy and beef cattle; 48"-ponies and yearling horses; 40"-miniature horses, sheep and goats, large dogs (Labradors, etc.); 36"-miniature horse yearlings; 30"-medium dogs (Spaniels, etc.); 16"-Small dogs (Jack Russells, etc.).
What are the different options for engraving? top ^
There are three options:
1. One-time logo only set-up:

What are your rush fees? top ^

What color is the string on finished top ribbons? top ^
Typically, we manufacture pointed and square top ribbons with strings that match the ribbon color. Rosettes requested with a string back also has matching string and ribbon color.
What colors look best printed on Rainbow ribbon? top ^
When using Rainbow ribbon as a center streamer for rosettes or as a flat ribbon award, we recommend printing in one of the following colors:gold, metallic blue, metallic green, or metallic purple. Rainbow ribbon will add additional monies, depending on product type, to your order which at this point in time, does not get calculated in the shopping cart. If you desire this ribbon, please note this under special instructions and a customer service representative will call you with your total.
What colors look best with your Rainbow ribbon? top ^
When using Rainbow ribbon for rosettes or our layered flat ribbons, we recommend one of the following colors: blue, fuchsia, lemon, lilac, light green, neon pink, purple, sapphire, turquiose or yellow.
What credit cards does Hodges Badge Company accept? top ^
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and debit cards. Please have your credit card ready when placing your order. Using credit/debit cards ensures quicker delivery.
What does unframed mean when purchasing canvas prints? top ^
Your photo is printed onto canvas with a 1" blank canvas border. This canvas is ready to be stretched onto wooden canvas stretchers and then framed. The canvas, depending on the size of the print, will be shipped rolled around a tube.
What font is most typically used to print orders? top ^
Most typically, we use a sans serif block type, in all capital letters. Our print shop will choose the appropriate font style and size used on your ribbons, based on number of characters and lines. Dye Sublimated ribbons can print most any font requested.
What is "specialty ribbon"? top ^
Specialty ribbon is Rainbow, Red White & Blue, Waving Flag, Gingham and Dye Sublimated Side streamers. This ribbon will add additional monies, depending on product type, to your order which at this point in time, does not get calculated in the shopping cart.
What is 2 dimensional engraving? top ^
By placing your logo on the back of the crystal award (visible through the crystal) and your text on the front you can create a unique two-dimensional effect.
What is a die? top ^
A die is a magnesium block with a design etched into the surface. Hodges Badge Company keeps track of custom dies and will store them for 3 years. Each die is good for 100,000 impressions. Custom dies typically cost $30+.
What is grosgrain ribbon? Does Hodges Badge Company print on grosgrain ribbons? top ^
Grosgrain ribbon is a textured cloth. No, we do not print on grosgrain because it does not take well to hot stamping. Grosgrain is sewn at end with a gold jump ring attached. These neck ribbons are 30" in length.
What is your normal delivery time? top ^
Normal delivery is 9-12 working days after we receive your approval to begin production. You can expect delivery to be on the long end of this scale in May, June and September. Larger or complex orders may require more production time. If we can ship your order sooner, we will.
What set-up fees does Hodges Badge Co. charge? top ^
Set-Up Charges: less than 25 rosettes per style, print, or streamer length incurs a $10.00 set up charge. Less than 100 flat ribbons per style, print, or length incurs a $10.00 set-up charge, less than 25 printed neck ribbons incurs a $10.00 set-up fee. What should I know when ordering Ink Transfered ribbon? top ^
When ordering multi-color ink transfer products the Art Department will use their discretion when choosing colors and layout. If PMS color matches are specified we willl try to match as close as possible. Please specify uncoated PMS colors only.
What type of back is on a multi-colored button? top ^
Our buttons include a safety pin metal back.
What type of rosette tops does Hodges Badge Company offer? top ^
Hodges Badge Company's rosette tops are made with pleated or ruffled ribbon, petals, points or a combination of these.
When do your new prices go into affect? top ^
Please check with Customer Service (1-800-556-2440) for effective dates. Prices on our website are updated when we publish each new catalog. While prices may or may not be adjusted in each catalog, we reserve the right to increase prices with or without notice.
When ordering on-line, how do I specify rosettes with 2-tone or champion colors? top ^
The first color (Ribbon Color 1) specified will always be the printed center streamer. For 2-tone, Ribbon Color 2 will be used for the outer streamers. For champion colors, Ribbon Color 2 will be used for the left streamer and Ribbon Color 3 will be used for the right streamer.
