To Prepare And Submit Your Artwork
These are the rules that we use when preparing artwork for a ribbon, ribbon
streamers, gold rim center, rider's number or medal:

Artwork should have clean, sharp, crisp solid black lines on a white background.

No gray or colored in areas.

Type must be clean and sharp, not broken up or shaky.

Artwork that has less detail will print better.

The size of your artwork should be 3" in width, no larger please.

If you're using a paint/drawing program such as PhotoShop, PaintShopPro... please set the resolution
size to 300 dpi

This is an example of clean artwork.
- No modifications needed.
- No artwork charge.
- If used as a die, a $30 charge will be added to your order

These are examples of artwork that will need modification. This would take 15 to 20 minutes to reset the type and redraw the flower. The artwork charge would be $15.00 to $20.00 |
These are the rules that we use when preparing artwork for a button or a button for
a rosette center:

The same information from above applies (3, 5, and 6) except that your artwork can be in any color or
combination of colors with any amount of detail.
Artwork that needs to be modified by our Art Department will be charged $1.00 per minute. Most
artwork takes approx 10 - 20 minutes or costs $10.00 to $20.00 to modify.
All modified artwork MUST BE approved BEFORE we will begin producing your order. Please respond to the approval request in 24 hours to avoid delay, additional shipping charges and/or premium processing fees and, possibly, cancellation of your order.
When saving your artwork:
- Save your file(s) with the first few words of your organization in lowercase letters.
- Use the proper extension at the end of a file name. For example, if you're
saving artwork that was prepared in Adobe Photoshop and your going to save it as a
tif file, the name of your file would be rushmont.tif, (.tif being the extension and
rushmont being the organization name).
- The Art Department at Hodges Badge Company, Inc. supports:
- Adobe Photoshop (save files as .tif, .jpg, .pdf, .gif, or .eps)
- QuarkXpress (save files as .qxd). Make sure you also send the fonts and other files used in the document
- Aldus Freehand (save files as .eps)
- Microsoft Word (save files as .doc).
If you do not have these programs, please export your file(s) as an .eps by going into "File" and then
"Export" and making sure you use .eps as your file extension
- Attach all files, including font suitcases if the font is not a part of the artwork. They must be Macintosh
